Compress PDF

Make a PDF smaller

How it works

Shrink a PDF for email or upload by re-compressing its images. Text and drawings stay crisp and selectable.

  1. Add one PDF file.
  2. Pick a level: Light (lossless), Balanced, or Strong.
  3. Choose “Compress PDF” — large images are re-encoded on your device.
  4. Download the smaller file and see how much you saved.

Questions

Why didn’t my PDF get much smaller?

Compression mostly comes from images. PDFs that are mainly text or vector drawings are usually already compact, so there’s little to remove.

Will the text become blurry?

No. Only embedded photos and scans are re-compressed. Text and drawings are left untouched, so they stay sharp and searchable.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Every operation runs locally in your browser using JavaScript (pdf-lib, with page previews from PDF.js). Your documents are never transmitted to us or to any third party, and there are no accounts, watermarks, or file-retention tricks. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tools still work.
